The file aacplus.dll is an Ahead AAC / AAC-Plus Audio Decoder used by Nero Photoshow and other Nero programs. Exclusively designed for proper compiling of audio code in Nero burning applications, the modules aacplus.dll and ac3filt.dll are used both for audio synchronization with the video code.

The file aacplus.dll is installed by default in the C:/ Program Files/ Common Files/ Ahead/ DSFilter/ folder and is run by default in Microsoft Windows XP platforms. The usual file size of this DLL is 188,416 bytes.

One of its main programs, Nero Burning ROM, calls on the function of the module aacplus.dll when it writes audio data to a CD or DVD. It is compliant with the ISO 9660 mode 1 and 2. ISO 9660 is a file system for CD and DVD formats for multiple operating systems such as UNIX, LINUX, Mac and Microsoft Windows. It also allows for the use of the Joliet format, which supports long filenames and non-ASCII character sets, and UDF file system to handle large media file sizes typical of video and audio data.

The file aacplus.dll has a reverse function compared to its other component - the module aac.dll. The former is a compiler-type link library for burning and writing purposes, while the latter has the exact opposite function of being able to decode audio code written in the same format from a CD or DVD media. The latter also functions as a component used in MP4 format extraction. Other programs that use the file aacplus.dll are audio compiler utility programs like BeSweet and the like that makes use of AAC audio format.
