The d2game.dll file is a core component of the Diablo 2 and the Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction Expansion pack PC Games from Blizzard Entertainment. The d2game.dll file contains routines and information that are executed by the main Diablo 2 program.

The Diablo 2 game is a popular action and adventure role playing PC game that was released in June 2000. The Diablo 2 game features a single player and multi-player mode that uses the d2game.dll module extensively. Other chief components of the game are the d2common.dll and d2client.dll files, which also contain similar functionalities to the d2game.dll module.

In multi-player mode, the d2common.dll file contains the common elements of the server and client sides of the game and handles much of the internal data. The d2game.dll module is the server side of the game, while the d2client.dll module is on the client side. Usually the client and the server sides update and manipulate their internal data by calling the functions from the d2common.dll file, which does the actual work. The d2common.dll module also handles the static data files, which are just text files, on top of various other functions. The d2common.dll module reads, parses, and holds the data needed by both the d2client.dll module and the d2game.dll module.

As with the d2client.dll file, the d2game.dll module contains almost all the game codes like the items, characters, game levels, bonuses, and other character development computations. The graphics are contained in other components of the game, but are basically called upon by the d2game.dll module when the game is running. The game.exe application that calls all the other components is basically acting only as the compiler of the game itself.
