Windows Process Description:
The dac32.dll file is a Digital Audio 32 Bit Copy Engine created by Christoph Schmelnik of Denmark. It is more popularly called Windac. Windac was designed to copy audio tracks digitally from audio CDs to your hard disk with only the help of an installed CDROM drive.
The dac32.dll module does not make use of a sound card or any other sound hardware. The only thing needed is a CDROM drive that is capable of Digital Audio Extraction (DAE). This device should be connected to your SCSI or IDE controller. The dac32.dll module translates the digitally copied audio tracks into 32 bit wave files (file extension .wav).
During the early 2000, the dac32.dll module was meant as a solution to digitally copy audio tracks since there were not much available software applications for audio with this kind of function. The dac32.dll module works with all Microsoft Windows 32 bit Operating Systems such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Audio tracks from CD's are extracted by the dac32.dll module using only the CDROM drive, and it encodes the tracks digitally on your hard disk.
Windac32 can detect ATAPI drives. SCSI drives are also automatically detected by Windac32. In case the drives are not found, reset the ASPI configuration for the necessary changes, and the dac32.dll module will automatically detect the drive.
Windac32 is able to access the CD-ROM drives with two different methods based on NT operating systems. The first method is by using an ASPI manager, but unfortunately there is no ASPI manager installed by default on Windows operating systems. The second method uses NT internal functions, but this only works if you are working with a user account that has administrator privileges. A number of options will get you high quality results.
The dac32.dll module uses a completely parallel working copying routine, which makes it possible to simultaneously copy from several CDROM drives. As the dac32.dll file only supports translation to WAV files, the plug-in support of the software will allow you to easily add support for various audio formats.
