Windows Process Description:

The file gearaspi.dll contains the ASPI interface for GEAR products. Advanced SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) Programming Interface or ASPI is a driver layer that works in between software and the CD-R hardware. ASPI actually enables applications to communicate with SCSI and/or ATAPI devices. The module gearaspi.dll operates in between the CD-R hardware and the Gear software. The ASPI interface sends commands to a SCSI or ATAPI host adapter. The ASPI then provides an abstraction layer that deletes unimportant information about the host adapter from the programmer and then normalizes the interface to simplify the application development.

If issues arise relating to a CD/DVD device not detected by the software or a CD/DVD device does not operate correctly with other software application, all that is needed to resolve this is to install the latest version of the file gearaspi.dll. However, whenever a message is received informing the user that the gearaspi.dll module cannot be opened and that the driver is probably not installed, this usually indicates that the GEAR driver is not installed or is not running.
