The gen_jumpex.dll file is also known as the Win Amp General Purpose plug-in Jump. It comes with the installer packages of Win Amp media player versions 5.02 and higher. The gen_jumpex.dll module enhances Win Amp's built-in Jump to File dialog.

With the Win amp player, the ability to search through the files in the current playlist and 'jump to that file' is available to the user. With the gen_jumpex.dll file, it is possible to place the file in queue instead of jumping to the file. This feature is useful if the user wants to immediately find a song to play while listening to a current track that is being played.

The constant developments being done on this module have paved the way for the queuing features, which are a part of the 'jump to file' dialog, to be incorporated into other parts of the Winamp player too. With the addition of the Playlist Editor features to the gen_jumpex.dll module, it is now possible to have a similar style of queuing as the feature that came bundled with the Winamp3 Playlist Editor (alt+click on the playlist item or via a right-click menu). This was a much missed feature on earlier versions of Winamp. The gen_jumpex.dll file also gives the user the ability to view the queue position of a song in the playlist window.

The key aim of the gen_jumpex.dll file is to allow you to queue your files to play in an order that the user specifies. With the gen_jumpex.dll file installed, the user has two different options to achieve this. The first method is to use the Enqueue method that creates a list of files to play, which can be managed / altered as needed. The second method is to utilize Timed Queuing where queued files play at a given time with the user able to control when they are played based on various options.

These options include Day of the Week, on the hour, etc. Also present is the ability to add into the 'timed queue' a 'virtual file' that will allow you to close Winamp and/or the system at a given time.

The gen_jumpex.dll module is a plug-in or only an add-on for Win Amp audio player. When you disable the gen_jumpex.dll module, you lose the ability to have the enqueue and other buttons on the jump to file dialog.
