The module gencush.dll is known as the Nero library. It is a key component in the functioning of the Nero Burning Read-only Memory (ROM), or simply Nero, a widely-known optical disc authoring program for Linux and Microsoft Windows made by Nero AG.

Nero AG, formerly called Ahead Software AG, was founded by Richard Lesser in 1995. It is a German software company based in Karlsbad, Germany, and is famous for its CD and DVD-authoring software package, Nero Burning ROM.

The gencush.dll module supports the writing of data to CD-R and CD-RW discs. This module supports International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9660, ISO mode 1 and XA mode 2 images, and it also allows over-burning. This module supports the Nero Burning ROM for its multi-session and mixed-mode recording, Hierarchical File System (HFS), ISO/HFS hybrids, Universal Disk Format (UDF), OFAS, PSX (DVR), and digital audio extraction.

This module gencush.dll has the functions OpenGenerator and CloseGenerator@@YAXPAVCGenerator@@@Z. It helps Nero to work with a number of optical disc image formats, including its proprietary NRG file format.

Nero AG's software is available in numerous variations. Since Nero Burning ROM version 6, the module gencush.dll has been bundled with other applications such as Nero ImageDrive, an application for mounting virtual CDs; Nero Wave Editor, for editing audio files; Nero Recode, for backing up unencrypted DVDs and MPEG-4 conversions; and Nero BackItUp, for backing up file systems or whole disks.
