Windows Process Description:

The libhttpd.dll module was published by BeInSync but authored by Apache Software Foundation. This is a utility DLL that is used by the publisher to sync files and e-mails between computers, to make remote file access and file sharing secure, and to backup data online. BelnSync essentially makes the transfer of data between multiple machines seamless and safe while using peer-to-peer technology. It takes the libhttpd.dll module as its core component in helping businesses and individuals share, access, and protect documents and media content.

The libhttpd.dll module is also used to build Apache for Cygwin. Apache is an HTTP server and was central in the development of the World Wide Web. Cygwin is an environment for Windows that is similar to that of Linux. Building Apache for Cygwin is advisable if the user wants a smooth transition from Unix Operating System to Windows Systems for the HTTP services. One way to build Apache for Cygwin would involve sharing core using DLL linked version. Extra libraries or object files are brought to the libhttpd.dll module and this module in turn will be automatically be brought to / usr/ local/ apache/ libexec. The module should instead be moved to the bin directory of Apache. The libhttpd.dll file should be the only one left in / usr/ local/ apache/ bin directory. Eventually, every shared DLL module ends up in libexe, including the shared core which is the libhttp.dll module. Once /bin/http is launched it begins to link the file libhttpd.dll, making it truly necessary to save the DLL libhttpd.dll to the same directory where the httpd.exe file can also be found.

Apache has been the most popular HTTP server since 1996, but Microsoft Internet Information Services and the .NET platform managed to push it off its place since March 2006. The libhttp.dll module is also known as the Apache HTTP Server Core. The 2.0.52.0 version of the libhttpd.dll utility file was recently released and uses 248.06 KB of hard disk space. This file can be found in BeInSync 1.x in the C:/ program files/ beinsync/ apache/ bin/ libhttpd.dll folder.

The libhttpd.dll module is also used by Trend Micro Office Scan security application. It uses the DLL in its efforts to keep malware like Trojan and worms, away from corporate machines.
