Windows Process Description:

The tutil32.dll file is a tutility repair program for the Borland Database Engine (BDE) developed by Borland Company. The Borland database Engine is a 32-bit database engine for the Windows operating system. It includes a set of database drivers that enable access to the following data sources: dBase, Paradox, Access, FoxPro and text database. It also provides access to SQL servers including DB2, Informix, Oracle, Interbase, and Sybase.

The Borland Database Engine's design is in object-oriented form. Borland developers interact with the Borland Database engine applications when creating different Borland Database Engine objects during runtime. The DBE objects are used in manipulating database entities, for example, tables and queries. The Borland Database Engine Application Program Interface is used to provide C and C++ programming language a database engine access. It also provides Database drivers for Paradox, Access, FoxPro, and text databases.

The Borland Software runs on the Windows operating system. It unifies access to the Borland Database using multiple platforms. The BDE IDAPI interface is used in providing a layer between the Windows client and databases-Paradox, SQL Server, Informix, and Oracle databases.

The tutil32.dll module is essential to the literary machine function that uses the Paradox database in connecting to the Borland Database Engine. Like most database systems, a paradox database will not automatically regain the deleted space that an item had occupied. Problems are caused when a user works with pictures or sound because they contain a lot of data. In addition, the startup time and performance may increase when the database is used.

The literary machine contains no utility to compact the database, so to regain the vacant space of the deleted items the user must use an external tool. The following are tools used to check the integrity of the database system's files:

* tutil32 or the tutility program

* PdxRbld or Paradox Builder

* Database Desktop-utility included with corel

* Chimney Sweep

The tutil32.dll module is the 32-bit table utility used in detecting and repairing database files. It is easy to use because it can scan whole batches of files compare to PdxRbld that scans files one at a time. The tutil32 program contains two files: the tutil32.exe and the tutil32.dll module.

To run the tutil32 module in detecting damaged items follow these steps:

In the Paradox Database Interface,

* choose Utilities then click on "Find damage items"

* fix any damage items on the desktop

Repeat steps 1 and 2 until no damaged items are found.
