The vasac8.dll file is described as the Windows 95 Quick View File Parser. The vasac8.dll module is an application extension that was developed by Microsoft Corporation in collaboration with Systems Compatibility Corporation. The vasac8.dll file was initially bundled along with previous versions of Windows Operating Systems. This includes Windows NT, Windows 98 and Windows 95. Later Microsoft Windows versions do not contain the vasac8.dll file.

The module vasac8.dll handles and recognizes different file formats within Windows Operating Systems and allows a preview of these files. Different extensions are supported by the Quick View File Parser including .exe and .doc files. The program is responsible for providing users a preview of the file within the Windows Operating System.

The vasac8.dll file enables this task in the operating system by contacting other DLL and EXE files. It watches over the actions happening within the operating system. When it is initiated, it works with other system files to complete its preview function.

On MS Windows 95-based machines, a file can be clicked with the right mouse button in order to launch the pop-up menu that will provide the user with a means to select the "Quick View" option. Afterwards, the user is given immediate access to the content of the file. However, since Quick View provides only a limited set of file extensions, the user can opt to manually add extensions that will be supported by this MS Windows 95 and 98 application.

To do this, Windows Explorer must be launched using the Run command or pressing the Windows key and e in succession. At this point, selecting "View Options" will launch a pop-up box that can provide the user with access to the "File Types" tab. Then, the user can choose the file type he or she wants to be supported by Quick View from a list of file extension options. This can be done by clicking on the box labeled "Enable Quick View" whenever the file types are selected by the user.
